Power at Wheels?

I am wondering what power a standard S makes at the wheels? I ask as the car I test drove and bought did not seem that quick in comparison to the TT I have.

I know the TT is 225 hp but it looses a lot through the 4 wheel drive so the power at the wheels is a lot lower so I thought the Mini would maybe feel as quick (being smaller too)

I have yet to pick it up as well but looking forward to it

As the facelift model makes 170 at the flywheel, compared to your TT's 225, I cannot imagine that 4 wheel drive is going to throw away most of that advantage, whatever the power at the wheels.

If the S feels too slow, there are remedies available.

The remaped TT's only make 180 ish at the wheels so I am not sure what the standard ones make probably a bit less??

Prior to my MCS I had a chipped Mk4 GTI 1.8T. It felt quicker than my MINI, even though it wasn't. The spool up and power delivery from the turbo is completely different to the linear power delivery of the supercharged 1.6 engine of the MINI. My wife now has a Mk5 GTI and, again, it feels quicker. But with the mods my MCS now has (the usual 15% pulley, CAI, cat-back zorst) in a straight line drag, the times would be close to identical.

So, even though a 225bhp TT would still be quicker than a stock MCS, the difference probably isn't as great as it feels.

I bet the MINI rewards you more and feels more connected and precise than your TT ever did.
