Hola!

Good thread this. I'm reviving it because there's good experiences here and I've just clocked 50k mileage this week after 4.5 years of happy, happy ownership

No major repairs ever TOUCH LARGE AMOUNTS OF WOOD but I'm about to book into Dick Lovett to get a weeping sump gasket replaced and also order/collect replacement exhaust brackets for the common problem that they rust through at the back.

But I'm wondering, with pulling to the left being talked about, MINI isn't drifting per se, but she has got slightly twitchy, and for really simple things like overtakes or coming on/off a carriageway. Tyres and pressure are so-so, I check them once a week.

Also, MINI has started creaking from the middle of the car. She has been doing this on really simple things as well, it's not when being thrown around a tight corner by Ayrton Senna. I was thinking a strut brace to steady things up, but that's not really a solution is it?

Anyone been through this at all? Twitchiness and creaking and repairs at 50k?

Twichiness could be Wishbone bushes...
Did you have the steering column replaced as that was a common fault?
4 and a half hears is pretty good ownership for a MINI

I have a R53 02 with 61K Milage, has been an absolout joy to own! I too could not think of another car to replace the charisma and just that sweet sound of the MINI!
I have had my car for a long time now and only ever had to replace a suspension arm bush, by a specialist, really no expense!
Any sports car requires this at times. I can assure the MINI to be bomb proof, there are a couple that sliped the net, but the MINI S as a hole is a reliable and solid car. I would have NO problems saving a bit of money and buying a high milage MINI.

It is all down to a little homework, and the feel you get from the seller.

Bought my '02 Cooper S with 99,500 miles in February this year and she has 101,600 on her now. No problems at all, just general maintaince-new tyres, new exhaust etc.
LOVE the car. And adore the noise...eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :-)

It's a MINI Clubman adventure!

holy thread revival batman!

on that note mines an 03 Cooper S which as 83k on the clock, had it for 6 months and so far no mechanical problems.

Although i do see a regular dead spot on acceleration which is a apparently not unusual on older models due to the ECU.

oh accept my rear wiper washer wont spray any more for some reason.

I'm more concerned about it mechanically, with it averaging 20k miles a year. How much have the superchargers been fetching?
Edit; Just seen this on ebay
Mini BMW Eaton Supercharger + Cylinder Head power M45, is that the one?

Wow...i would walk away mate...... just be patience and don't rush into...
