Angry problems with my s

I finally picked up my cooper s on thursday. I had a blast driving all over the place throughout the weekend... I figured that when i got home from work today (monday), it deserved a good washing. I noticed that the front drivers side tire has a bubble right next to the rim. i have the 17's on the car with the pirelli runflat's. I called up my mini dealer- he suggested that i take the car to the closest mini dealer to have the tire looked at. When i brought it there, they told me that they could not stand behind the tires in any way. They suggested that i take the car to the local tire store to see if they could do anything as far as getting a replacement direct from pirelli. They could not even find the tire in their database, then after calling several of their distributors told me that they could get the tire in 2 weeks for 350$$ When i got home i called my dealer back, requested to talk to service, as soon as i told them what had happened, they told me exactly what mini variant and with what wheels i had. Aparently i am the third this has happened to in a short period of time. They are going to call me back early tuesday... I will keep you posted on what turns out---- by the way, the car has only 325 miles on it and i did not hit any potholes......

325 miles on your S and the dealer won't warrant the tires?
I thought we had bumper to bumper warranties! I can't beleive the dealer won't ante up and replace a tire on a three day old car!
Maybe I'm wrong and need to go read my warranty book, but something sure seems amiss if the dealer won't replace it.

Tirerack also classifies as an all season tire. I thought they were summers? Granted, I wouldn't want to use any "Ultra High Performance All Season" in snow but still.

I just went through a similar ordeal with my wifes Saab. The tires had about 2000 miles on them when a blister developed on one of the front tires. The Saab dealer wanted nothing to do with the tires. We ended up bringing the car to a local tire place. They swapped the tire and sent it off to pirelli for a warranty inspection ( havent heard anything yet ). Blisters are most often caused by impact, so are a bit tough to get warrantied on unless there is a known issue with the particular model tire, which in my case there was not. A friend of mine had all four tires on his S4 replaced when they all blistered. There was however a documented issue with the tires.

My Integra came with a road hazzard warranty. I hit a piece of metal on the highway one day, took it to the dealer and they replaced the tire no questions.

Bubbled tires

Any new info. I just picked up my MINI S from Freeport Thursday. It is now at the Southampton service because it stalled and wouldn't start again. They were going to take it to Hunington.

PS brought my new MINI to a Friday night car gig in Hampton Bays and it got lots of attention from owners of '56 Chevy's, Corvettes and Mustangs.

hey noblewines, i got my mini from Hassel as well. our cars were probably friends on the truck over there, now it sounds like they are partners in trouble!! The dealer said that they will call around 7 am.. I hope it is good news. I went on to pirelli.com they gurantee their tires against any defect as long as it hasnt worn more than 2/16ths. I am hoping to use this to while trying to get a free tire!!

@noblewines

Had the same problem with my S 2 weeks after I picked it up. The car wouldn't start anymore while my dealer was trying to identify the problem with my automatic AC. It took them half a day to figure out the problem. The plug at the fuel punp had gone (that's what they said...). Tell your dealer to check the fuel pump...

This has hapened 6 weeks ago, up to now I had to bring the car to the dealer for another 3 times to fix other "bugs". The automatic AC is still not working properly.

Talking YEA!!!!!

just thought i would let you all know that the problem is solved. The boys down at Hassel Mini in Freeport handled things in a very professional manner. They flatbedded my car to the dealership and replaced the tire at no personal expence. Now thats service with a smile!! Thanks again!
