Best way to explain it I think is if you consider a pencil inbetween 2 cotton reels (simple axle with 2 wheels). When you turn a corner, the outside wheel has to travel a further distance to the inside wheel, so if you enter a corner too fast with a regular diff you will understeer and fall away from the corner.... however, with an LSD, it will put more power to the wheel on the outside that has to go the further distance to help anchor you into the corner. I used to have an LSD on my previous FWD car. Unfortunately I never got around to 'tracking' it but I had a play about with the LSD on some 'private grounds' and it's pretty cool to experiance what's actually going on. You can actually feel the nose of the car turn in towards the roundabout/apex of a corner like you would if you were in a RWD car. On fast road driving, even in the wet I found it hard to get the LSD working - then again it could have just been the type of car. Not had my S long enough to see how well it handles without an LSD. Like I said previously though, won't notice much on normal/fast road driving. As the above poster said, you only get it working with the power on so the diff can put the power to the outside wheel. Hope it makes sense. :S

It does make you pull out of bends more quickly, but that's only because you're cornering at a greater speed on a tighter line with an LSD working anyway. If you drove an S with and without an LSD on a road driving quickly, chances are you won't know which 1 has the LSD or not - like I say, with my previous car, I actually had to cain it around a roundabout, round and round and round, going quicker and quicker to actually feel the LSD kick into gear. Maybe it's also an experiance thing. People on the road will slow down before LSD works, especially those who don't fully understand it. Which is of course a good thing!

In addition to this, an LSD lets you lay down proper no.11's coming out of junctions :-) and also stops the inside wheel on a tight bend spinning up and ****ing all the power away as the power is channelled to the outer wheel instead.
