When was LSD made standard?

Was wondering this as im looking at a March 05 model and n ot sure it will have LSD. I thought they made them standard from Jan 05 however I saw a 55 plate MCS today and on the invoice receipt it had LSD as an extra at £130 or something!?

I believe LSD came as standard with the CHILI pack from January 2005. It was still available as an option without the CHILI pack.

Its strange though because he had chilli pacl in the recipt but still LSD.. maybe I am getting confused?

I've just bought a MCS (05 March) with chilli pack as standard. So it defiantly has a LSD?

Is there anything simple to indicate if the car has LSD or not? I have just got a MCS '03 with Chili & visibility pack. No idea if it has the optional LSD though. Took it out for a quick spin but not had a proper look at the car etc as I've been in hospital for the past week and still not 100%.

Mind you I gave it a little blip around a corner on a country road and the traction control kicked in which slowed me down a bit.

LSD only on cars from 05 onwards.

The LSD was released in 2005 and was a no-cost option on the Chili pack - but you still had to tick a box to get it

Bit like the smoker pack was, it was free, but if you didn't tick the box, you didn't get it

The only way to tell is to ask a dealer to print off the spec sheet for your car (they can do this from either the reg or the vin).

Im just deciding when lookign for a used car if I need to find one with LSD... is it THAT vital?

Having an LSD would definitely be beneficial, but probably only really noticeable on a track. So if you're not looking to track your car I doubt you'd even notice much of a difference.

a bit of debat on this one even dealers have given me different dates but I think it was around July\August 05. My July 05 didn't have one tho I thought it had.

You'll notice it in the wet, foot to board coming out of corner in a stock S. but in a Works, GP, or tuned S you would notice it more.

The LSD has only ever been a factory option on the Cooper S

Does LSD stop you sliding out on corners, or just mean you get more speed out of a corner?
