2002/2003 Model

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a 2002 and 2003 model, apart for the optional extras.

My dealer told me that I have a 2003 model just because I've got the glovebox but it seems to me that there might be a couple of 2002 models with the glove box.

About a $125 in the US.

Ok, I've decided:
My Car Aimee: Mini "S", Pure Silver/B, Premium (A/C and sun roof), DSC, Fog, and Heated seats. (Why? 'cause I can't wait a year)

Yes Thomo

In UK I have just had my MCS (06/9) build delivered. The changes I found or had pointed out to me by the dealer are:

Glovebox
Redesigned seats with different adjustment handles
Auto locking doors at 9 miles per hour
Greater range of personalised management computer options (eg number of settings for "follow me home lights")
A jack and toolkit
A much easier shutting boot

There was NOT a new steering wheel or extra remote key.

Where does the jack & toolkit stow? And what use are these tools of the wheel changing trade if there ain't no spare to fit!

2003

september02 has seen the introduction of changes to the car.
Software and trim changes being the most noteable.
The full 03 spec won't be available until, well about 2003 actually. A fair amount of it is being introduced now. November build onward will probably see further changes, finally completing the full 03 spec.

They sit in little black bags in the boot

Oh and by the way...the MINIs most endearing feature...the squeaking seats is still a 2003 feature BUT WHAT A LOVELY CAR!

Thanks for all the replies, It looks like I do have a 2003 model.

Re Keys :

I got 1 remote control key, 1 spare key (not remote) and one plastic key for safe keeping. I have however recently purchased a spare remote control key which cost me £70.

After getting the new key I enquired about the programming on the new options, however, Most of the options were already programmed at the factory so there was no need to have any added. The new key had to be activated though !

Oooh. I hope my has a glovebox I was lent a Cooper S over the weekend, but although it had a '52' reg on it, I reckon it was the demo car sitting in the garage back in June. And everytime I got a little 'enthusiastic' with the loud pedal, CD's and sunglasses tipped out of the alcove in the passenger (and drivers) side . Bit disappointing if I've only got one remote key though. I'll have to order another for er indoors!!!

This is all the changes that I know of that will happen in 2003.

Option to change interior dash, alloy patina ""sp??"", isn't the only option.

Different colors from Cooper are now available on S, no BRG for Cooper S

New Steering wheel with thumb extensions for better grip

Navigation moves from CDRom to DVD

Option for Tinted Windows

New CD Player with ability to play MP3s and add Satellite Radio.

Finaly getting HK Sound and Auto Diming Mirror and Rain sensing wipers are finaly available

I think that is all of it.

2003 Mini Cooper S with all the goodies!

Black/Black MCS
Everything to follow shortly.
