Ok maybe I should clarify. I currently drive a mini SUV with about 215hp which is fairly short with a manual transmission (98 isuzu Amigo). So it's accelerates pretty well and is somewhat fun to drive. That's my background.
I test drove the Cooper S today in Denver and was duly impressed! The car is MUCH bigger inside than I had come to imagine. The quality of the show cars was excellent. Driving the S was a demonstration of responsive steering and high-end thrust. To put this into perspective, last weekend I test drove a Mustang GT and a Firebird WS6, certainly no slouches. I'm sold on the Mini. I've never felt anything so tight. The closest I can compare this to is a 318 I drove in Germany. I've driven a Z3 as well on some nice curvy roads. Mini has done something right. It won't win drag races but it's a blast to drive! Turning the last corner at speed back into the dealer-lot felt like a seemless 90 degree shift onto the next road.
Now I really have to start searching for mine or a place to put in an order!
Hey Fooo Hehehe Sweet!! GET IT GET IT GET IT... U know u want it... its calling u... where are u going to put in a order? u want to order out of state and drive it back?
Yes - I'm going to start calling around on Monday to find someone who has a short wait list to place an order. I wouldn't order anyway till December so that I can get the auto-dimming mirror and HK system so hopefully that gives me some leeway.
Yah I know I want it. I've been thinking all weekend about colors and think I've decided on IB/B. Other choices were B/B, B/W, DS/B.
