as with any performance car a lot depends on driving style. On motorways with cruise control on I can get 40mpg and have seen a little higher. Over a couple of weeks I clock up 600miles with 120 in town, 300 motorway and the rest A road blasts and average about 33mpg

I never saw anything like 30+mpg in the UK, more like 28. That was some rural and some dual carriageway. It was no better on either of 2 1100+mile return trips to see my Mum on which I used the cruise control at about 85mph. Over here in NZ where the speed limit is lower and traffic flows are more constant I get about 31mpg on the trip computer, but traffic here is nothing like traffic in the UK. That does include an occasional trip on a fun hill road where 2nd and 3rd are the only gears necessary for about 15 miles though. Mine is tuned but it was no different when standard. I'd say based on my experience you'd need to pretend you have Miss Daisy in the back to get much over 30mpg in the UK. I do get a fair bit of soot around the exhaust tips so maybe mine runs rich. Roland at GTT said it was one of the quicker ones he's driven though so I'll live with it Fen GTT230+ in DS

Ok, well in my 2002 MCS i get ~21MPG, my other half manages nearer 35 mpg. We both do the same run, 8 miles of motorway, 14 miles of quick A-road and 3 miles of country lanes. In germany the other day, i cruised at 80mph for a full tank with climate control + AC + headlights on and i got 42mpg Servicing should be included in the TLC pack, you can extend it with TLC XL for £150 (i think) which covers 3 services and is well worth it.

i've got 2005 cooper S with the super charger and the trip comp says we are getting 26 mpg, But think we are doing better then that a full tank lasts us around 2 weeks, i think we get just under 400 miles to a tank full. with city driving.. Don't hold me to it! But i think the newer cooper S with the turbo is a better on the fuel?
