BTDO has got the car up for sale (in the classifieds) which is a shame. Hopefully it will get sold to someone on here.

It's a lovely looking car (in a MINI Challenge sort of style)

But i have a had a few run ins with cars such as Astons and EVo's and trust me a well fettled cooepr S will keep with them. I think a fair few of the other high specced Cooper S owners will agrea with me that they are deceptively fast. They also seem to be a lot faster than they should be. My old Ibiza 1.8T was 240bhp, but the difference between that and the mini is night and day.

Then chuck int he handling and on a track an Evo or scooby lose that advantage.

Hey im doubting them fella, what im doubting is the 'flashing to overtake' an Evo, bit far fetched IMO...... we are still talking about standard Evo's here arent we? otherwise this convo really is pointless...... as for the ring i think what needs to be said has been, that track is lethal as you well know with the differing gradients etc, think id be more worried about trashing my Ferrari than seeing a Mini go by....

Cant see how the ibiza and the mini are night and day though, the ibiza handles crap and cant put the power down if thats where your coming from? rolling pace wont see much difference i dont think depending on what turbo was on the ibiza? KO3?

The 1 thing i am curious about is the handling, i know the mini is 'go-kart' material, but the Evo in particular is 4wd track dream which i dont think would be THAT far off, how can it be when the power distributes over 4 wheels virtually taking away front end power slides, think we need to give these cars the respect they deserve.

Also lets remember the EVo is a 35k car. The cooepr s out the box is a 16k car, your comparing chalk and cheese really.

i'll not tell you about the episode i had with 5 Evo's then... FQ's and MR's. they couldn't understand how a MINI could be so fast! which i think is the case in these forums

but hey, i know what trouble talking like this can cause, so i'll stop right here, right now. FBS.

Cheers,
K.

you miss my point Ant, im not questioning the cost etc....just the comments that the Evo will lose out big style on handling and in some occasions, straight line speed - but if we are comparing costs, then i doubt very much that these Evo beating mini's stand their owners at just 16k (if we are comparing brand new models?)

GTT, share you stories mate, thats what this debate is about ) ..... the thread that made me post suggested your 1/4 mile times are approx 13.9secs which are not Evo beating...thats my issue

.take a standard evo on a track thats just costs £35000.on the same track put a mini that has cost the same £35000 but the mini has been turned into proper track car.i wonder which car
would be getting flashed out of the way.

Good point mate, however i havent questioned that, my question was AGAIN down to the 1/4 mile times posted.... the above was in response to the guy who missed the same point

get all defensive if you want, my point is still that you will not beat an Evo on a 1/4 mile stretch with times like that unless it has a man driving that has a labrador with him

thanks again

Tim

trust me i have no need to get defensive about anything.a fwd car or rwd car in standard form ie not full drag car will not beat any four wheel drive over the first 60 ft on a drag strip and that is all
that mattars.an evo will do a firts 60 ft in 1.5 sec give or take a mini wil be lucky to beat 2.5 for the
firts 60 ft.so if you are saying an evo is faster over 60 ft you are spot on.but remeber when the cars are on the move it is a whole new ball game.my car is runing about 350 bhp or so an evo
runing the same power will not give me hard time round a track.do not get me wrong the evo will
still be quick car just not as quick as mine.

Thanks 2 much

Im not looking to cause an argument and you can see the point im trying to make, although admittedly i am looking for reasons to swap to a Mini and your response is exactly the type im after rather than a theoretical comparison
