Servicing early (before the service indicator says so)

I'm wanting to take in my 02 cooper S for its inspection 2 service ahead of when it's "due" (I have 1800 miles to go on service indicator). I would normally wait but the engine has started to make a diesel like sound and I think it would be good to get it serviced now. Does anyone know if I can stick it in early?

Making a diesel sound? If it is clicking, that could be the valves. When was the last time you checked the oil and topped it off?

Most of the time they will not let you take it in early. You could try, but I doubt they will do it.

I'm assuming you've got no tlc due to the age. Therefore you can have it serviced when you like! How long was it since the last service?

Good point... I was thinking TLC.

Even then, I am still curious about the oil question. Some people seem to think that you don't have to check it because MINI services it.

I managed to get mine serviced early. I was getting the brake fluid changed though and it was 1200 miles from its next service. So I spoke nicely to the service department and they had to call mini for approval.

When I was speaking to the service department the woman said that normally they will only service up to 1000 miles of it being due.

Hope this helps, although its maybe not the answer you wanted!
