How many miles to a tank...?

I've had my 52 plate Cooper S for nearly 3 years now and love it as if it is the first time I have ever driven it, but I can't help wince when I see how many miles I get to the tank - 220ish then the red light pings on. This is fairly sensible driving commuting 50 miles a day.

What is everyone else getting? Be interested to see if my heavy right foot is heavier than I thought?!

High and low for my May 2002 build MCS:
350 miles averaging 57.2 mph (10.164 gal on fill-up)
199 miles averaging 15.5 mph (11.662 gal on fill-up)
I get twice the mileage for open highway driving as I do for stop and go city driving.

Cheers guys...It's hard not to have a heavy right foot with the whine of that super charger! Not the best commuter car but oh well!

Agreed! I was lucky to get 200 miles from a full tank in my first gen Cooper S Works, 180 was the norm (was doing ridiculous miles too, both round town and motorway, part of the reason I got rid of it). Happy to report that I'm getting between 250-300 in my R56 JCW though, and that's driving it in much the same style! Can't complain.

My '09 Dooper is getting about 500 to a tank... averaging 57mpg. Not bad...

Is their acutally much differance in the tank range with the pre and post lift due to altered gearing?

Earlier models require 125 fewer RPM to maintain a speed of 65 MPH in 6th gear, but I'm not sure what this equates to in terms of MPG.

US interstate driving: close to 400 @ 70 mph depending on the Ethanol content of the fuel - sometimes over 31 mpg... around town 24-26 mpg, but with my 1.6 mi one-way commute, that should equate to almost 60 days of town driving - i truly LOVE this car
