Hows the reliability on a cooper S

I understand it wont be like a honda or toyota but can expect better or atleast equal relilablity to my currect 00 audi 1.8T.
Also will the local bmw dealer be able to service a mini, even though i dont think they sell mini's?

I dont think the local dealer is authorized to sell mini

Thats why i was asking, yet a few months ago they did sell 2 or 3 brand new coopers. But havent gotten any since then. This is the only thing holding me back. Will they do the free services? As the closest mini dealer is 200 miles away and im not willing to do that for a car anymore. Did it with a range rover and it the worst car experience ever.

Can you clarify what you mean? MINIUSA clearly states that only MINI dealers can service MINIs.

Of course every MINI dealer is associated with a BMW dealer, but with only about 70 MINI dealers and about 350 BMW dealers in the US the reverse is certainly not true. The other 280 or so BMW dealers can't work on MINIs. (well they can, just like they can work on Chevrolets if they want to, but the manufacturers don't support them in doing so)

thats exactly what i was asking

But i mean i know my dealer isnt one of the 70, but they have sold brand new mini's so i thought maybe they could still service them, fix something if it goes wrong type of deal. If they cant, then theres no way i can buy this car.

Well, if they aren't an official MINI dealer they certainly can't do any factory warranty work and they can't provide you with software updates and service bulletin stuff. In Peoria, you'd have to look to a MINI dealer in Chicago or St. Louis for that.

Still, every MINI comes with MINI Roadside Assistance to provide free towing to the nearest dealer if your car becomes inoperable.

So far

based on what i've read here from current long term and new owners of Cooper/Cooper S the number one real complaint has been: Squeaky noise coming from "<insert wherever you hear it here>"

It might help you a bit if you read this
top 10 complaints about your MCS thread.

Happy and safe motoring!
