This does not happen all the time but its done it a few times now and wondering what causing it
When i stop in traffic the cooper s judders like its coughing ? and going to cut out. I solve it by reving the engine slightly then it runs smooth again.
soz you might not have it;MSA - Automatic Engine Start/Stop, sometimes when I pull up to lights, I dip the clutch just as the engines cutting out. Your's sounds like an autochoke issue if its only struggling sometimes...
I have the same problem i've posted on here before but never had much luck, if i leave my Mini coughing and juddering it eventually cuts out completely
I know this sounds odd but for those of us experiencing this issue how old is your cars battery? I recently replaced my battery which was the original from 2004 with a new one and my car feels transformed and it hasn't juddered since. I replaced it as the car failed to start after being sat for 2 weeks in the cold.
I'm wondering if a failing battery causes excessive alternator load which effects the engine at low revs.
Ive heard of many MINI's which exhibit this, including mine, which probably does it at least once once a month.
Cant say its really bothered me though as the engine has never once cut out.
But its not the battery, as Ive had several over the years, which didnt affect it one way or the other.
Have noticed that it tends to do it more when warm than cold.
Just think its one those characteristics that MINIs have.
@Saint2000 - The Start /Stop system only came in on 2nd gen cars from 2007 - at least in the UK
... just noticed how old this thread is
I'd take it in to your local garage mate, could get worst over the winter months!
