2002 Cooper S Oil Consumption

Hi all,

Bit of advice required my 02 MCS is using around 1/2 a litre to 3/4 of a litre in a two week period it's done 44k so low mileage for it's age there is an ever so slight hint of blue smoke on initial set off from starting up then nothing.

Engine is not noisy and still pulls like a train.

Could it be valve stem seals?

Any ideas, I have a brand new spare cylinder head but without going to as drastic as changing the head etc I thought id see if you lot had any similar issues / fixes.

Cheers Mike!

Valve stems smoke on the over run,so if you give it some welly, then let off the accelerator,if you get bluesmoke out the back it's your valve stems

If its not coming out of the rear main oil seal we have seen a common problem with the piston rings loosing tension, espically in early cars.
