Unhappy HELP!! Cooper S Spoiler Mix Up!!

Hi Everyone, Just picked up my new S today Electric Blue with White, with a few options like 17s, Sunroof, and Full Leather Lapis Blue. Traded up from a Cooper!

Being so excited about picking the car up I failed to notice something odd until I got my baby home. It has a standard rear spoiler, WHATS GOING ON??? is this right, have they changed the spoiler on the S to the standard offering. I can't find any info from Mini to say so, surely they can't mix up which spolier they put on the car? very bizarre.

I am yet to contact the dealer but will first thing in the morning.

Does anyone know whats going on with the Cooper S Rear Spoliers???

Thanks for any help, would be greatly appreciated!

Craig

Hi Craig,

I picked up my S last Friday (Sept build) and it had the correct spoiler on it - so it looks like your has been fitted with the wrong one.

Hope everything turn out all right.

Andy

Hi and welcome Craig. Can't say I have ever heard the spoiler being wrong on an S before hear in Oz. But I know the first shipment of demo Cooper S were help up because they did not have spoiler fitted to them when they left the factory so they had to put them on when they arrived here.

Love to hear what the dealer tells you.

Welcome to Mini2. It's nice to have another resident of Brisvegas on the board. If you see another EB/w s flashing at you, FLASH BACK!!!

Hope you can sort the spoiler out soon. I would be keen to see a photo of the spoiler, because I thought there was only one type

Lucky *** - some of us would kill for standard spoiler on our S - or better, no spoiler at all.

Ordered my "S" August '01. Arrived July '02. EB with white roof, wheels and stripes, Chili pack, DSC and climate control. Hate those 17" runflats though.

Can now be seen all over the West Midlands, as a blue blur passing everything at speed

Smile Nobody knows anything but its being fixed!

Good News!

Spoke to Mini Australia via a friend who knows someone there, and there of course had been no spec change on the S with regard to the rear spoiler.

So followed up with the call to the Dealer, my salesman was away so spoke to the manager. Don't think they believed me at first, however took the car in and they were pretty surprised to see I had a little factory Cooper spoiler on my S. They swear they have no idea how it happened and I believe them. So it looks as if it was damaged in transit and replaced wrongly by Mini Aust before delivery to the Dealer or the Factory either ran out of S spoilers or just put the wrong one on. Who knows, I just can't imagine it getting out of the factory wrongly, certainly a mystery!!

The dealer is arranging a replacement S spoiler for me ASAP and a loan car for the day it gets replaced.

Thanks for all the Replies they were very helpful, particularly the post that had an S that had the same build month as mine.

Craig

beware, I read a thread on here somewhere about someone removing a spoiler to fit an s one, but the spoiler was held on by 3 bolts - the s one only has 2 so a hole was visible
But then again some spoilers are held on with double sided tape

Spoiler change

I've been going to www.mini.ca for a few months.
It's been something close to an obsessive compulsive disorder involving the "Build your own MINI" section.
What I noticed about a month ago (when they started listing the MINIs as being the 2003 model) is that the spoiler disappeared!
It was only available as part of the MINI Aerodynamic kit.
Now, mind you, this is in the Great White North, and may not apply to your respective neighbourhoods but I'm guessing that since all the little beasts are built in Oxford it just may be a secret design change.
No actual info from MINI or BMW tho: just an observation.
