Let's tune this baby up

Hey all,

I have a 2002 R53 Cooper S in Australia and am considering doing some work on it.

I have no idea where to start, especially considering the lack of tuners in Australia. Any ideas?

I was thinking maybe a supercharger pulley, new exhaust and either an engine remap or an ecu upgrade? But where do i get this stuff?

Thanks

Sounds like a good path. I always think to start with basics like intake/exhaust, and then when the air is freed up, get a pulley!

Hi ya

15% pulley, upgraded spark plugs, MSD ignition leads & coil pack, GRS intercooler, cold air intake (CAI) these will give you the best gains to start with then its then exhaust and manifold heads cams injectors remaps.
for free power do your supercharger bypass valve there is a mod you can do, search here at mini2 for it, its an easy job with good results.
for the time being you can do the one ball mod to the exhaust better sound and flow and simple and fairly cheep.
good places to look at on the net are 1320 mini, GT Tuning, Alta, lohan mini, GRS motor sport, Tony franks (he used to work for john cooper motor sport) and mini craft in sussex. all these guys will sell to over the web and will give you advice
A thing you must think of first before the engine is your brakes get some good front brakes and bigger discs you can put the R56 discs and callipers on or go for JCW or brembo there is lots of choice and you can find it all here at mini2 with a little searching in the how to or FAQ also keep and eye on the clasifieds
i hope this helps you out a little sounds like you got the bug :-)

How did you go ?
I am on the East Coast and have added 15% Pulley, Lightened Crank Pulley, performance leads, coil pack and plugs as well as CAI.
Having exhaust carried out after xmas and now talking to various guys regarding tuning (RMW is a good one) before i start playing with headers, cams etc..... let me know if i can help..
Enjoy the bug....it will be an expensive one as i still have a very large list i want to fulfil...hehehe

well i have found a new reason not to live in western australia hahahaha, it seems like there is nobody who specialises in MINI tuning. so im thinking of just buying off the internet and taking it to a local bmw specialist who should be able to fit whatever i want.

im going to start with the exhaust i think, so that the engine can cope with any future changes.

then im keen to add some exterior work, not sure yet!
