New and Ready for the powerr

im michael, ive just bought a black eye purple cooper s with black roof and mirrors, its on an 05 plate and only hass 22,311 miles on, im in newcastle and ive drove to leeds to capture it, ive been researching some mods for my car,

im basically intrested in a pully reduction as ive read on here you get 'more bang for your bucks' but how much is the output difference between the 17% and 15%??

cold ram air induction kit
pully reduction with belt idler pulley etc
intercooler defusser
irridium spark plugs
by passs valve
miltek de cat backbix n manifold
remap

this will cost me 1400 quid fitted, 230 bhp at the wheels so **** no's what it will be at the crank!

this is just claimed by the way, but the kid who said he would do it has a honda civic hes supercharged and its 600 brake, and hes done work on my mates dads mazda 6 mps, running it at 32lb of boost! fastest car ive ever been in,

anyways i thought id introduce myself and get some advice of you guys

cheers

Welcome to MINI2,

New car sounds good, great low mileage too

You'd be lucky to get 230whp with those mods, I'm running virtually the same & on the last dyno session it made 220.8bhp.

Give Paul or Thomas a ring at 1320 Mini - Mini Parts - Mini Performance Parts, they'll be able to talk you through some good mods at a very good price too.

Supercharged Civic with 600 brake....hmmmmmm, has he got the dyno graph to prove it???

yeah hes got his own rolling road mate, still 220 at the wheels when its 168 at the crank as standards a pretty big jump, im looking forward to getting it fitted like, did you get 15% or 17% reduction? ive looked on that gtt mini tuning but its bournemouth and about 350 miles away

My 220 (bhp) was at the crank

Mine already had a 15% fitted when I bought it, would have gone for the 17% though.

If you're going for a remap get some 550 injectors too

GTT are quite expensive for what you get, & they haven't got a dyno either.

see this kid ive been speaking to says a pulley reduction will give me 220 at the crank on its own, ive read on here befor i joined you get a 20-30% increase in torque and power? yeah the no dyno i thought was strange considering the packages they offer! how long have you had your mini for?

ive took your advice and rung around a few places, my origional list is out the window tbh, 17% reduction with a big intercooler sounds the way forward, what does the by-pass valve do? and should i replace it, i get mixed msges like why change something that you dont need to and can spend the money else where? but why has every package i see advertised replace it?

I think he's being a bit optimistic tbh, average gain from just a pulley is around 20 bhp (crank).

Had mine for just over 6 years & still love it It's done quite a few RWYB at Santa Pod & also track day at Brands Hatch & the Top Gear track, not really missed a beat, probably the most reliable & fun car I've had .

Have a look on MiniTorque.com - Welcome loads of highly tuned MINI's on there, a few turbo conversions running over 300 at the wheels. Really knowledgeable owners too
