Knock/bang on gear change Hi all, I have recently bought a 03 MCS, however when you change gear I'm getting a knock/bang from what sounds like a mounting for the engine. Is there a common issue with a particular mount? If so are there any uprated replacements? Any advice would be good as don't want to throw money at parts that don't need swapping! Cheers Gav |

| I had the same problem on my normally aspirated Cooper yesterday - turned out my left hand engine mount bracket had suffered a fatigue failure with the crack widening and widening. Luckily it didn't let go completely. I was convinced the clunk was my CV joint - how wrong was I. A company called Masterdriver sorted it out and the clunk has gone away. I'm well chuffed and I suggest you check your mounts carefully. I have the harsher sports suspension plus and the 16 inch rims that probably started the problem. Good luck |
