United-States All wheel spin related warning lights are on after wheel bearing replacement

Does anybody know if a wheel bearing replacement requires reprogramming of sensor modules if done improperly?

Recently had my 2002 R53 CoopS in for a LF wheel bearing replacement. When i picked up the car, all the warning lights related to wheel spin (ABS, DSC, Run Flat Indicator, Brake Light) were on. The speedo was dropping out intermittently as well. They rechecked the car, said the speed sensor in that wheel was not touched and graphed out ok, and claimed the ABS module was coincidentally bad.
I asked them to check if there was some reprogramming issue they had missed, and 4 days later they said it was now the DSC module! They had taken it out to clean, and couldn't communicate with it at all when they put it back in. Plus the speedo has stopped working altogether!
Another Mech said maybe they put the bearing with the magnetic pickup in wrong, although they claim the part was a "hub assembly".
Can anyone help out here?
Thanks.

Wheel speed sensor doesn't need reprogrammed when replaced. It is normal to have to replace the wheel speed sensor while doing a bearing replacement. If this hasn't been done, even if the sensor buzzes out ok, it would be my first port of call!

Thx 3bars...Is the wheel speed sensor close enough to the bearing that it could have been damaged turning the bearing replacement?

More likely damaged by the fauty wheel bearing. It sits at the back of the hub and looks at hub rotation.I had to drill the old one out...they get very tight in their housing. Apart from that, they're easy enough to fit. Don't fit a cheap replacement sensor....they have poor reliability.... only fit the OEM Siemens part. The ABS warning lights will extinguish once the fault is lifted from the system.

Apologies for hijacking this thread. My MCS 2002 has exactly the same symptoms as SUVNOT, but they occured without any visit to the mechanic. I've been too busy to investigate the cause and I had put it down to a faulty wheel sensor.

The reason for this message is to ask if you you have any troubleshooting ideas. For example, do you know the resistance measurement of a working wheel sensor. I'm guessing faulty ones go open circuit?

Any help would be most appreciated,

Dave

Was it a MINI garage? I guess not and this is one of the risks of going to someone without the right equipment, cheaper yes, but some are lots of hassle too.
