Creaking from steering wheel.....

Hello,

I have a 2004 Mini Cooper s that has a rather loud creaking from the steering wheel.

It happens both turning left and right and happens at all speeds. Eg pulling off the drive 5mph or taking a corner at 15 mph.

I have had the engine mount done last year so don't think to that.

Any ideas what it could be ??

its the bearing on the steering column that needs greasing

Is that a job I can do ?? Or does it require taking the steering column apart ??

Is this view from the drivers foot well with the plastic surround taken off the steering wheel? I have the same problem.
