HELP!x2 MINI "Judder Club" & grinding noise

Hi guys.

I am the proud owner of YW03 EAC, a 2003 MINI Cooper S JCW Stage 1 Tuning.

I bought it for £5k back in May.

It has developed some problems since I have been using it. It has definately lost power. I drove a new MINI Cooper s Coupe and it seemed to have more power than mine.

PROBLEM#1

When I put my foot down, all the way down, the car stutters during acceleration. Seems to happen more in the lower gears (esp 2/3), and when the engine is hungry for fuel. I thought it was a fuel line issue but now I am going pack to misfires.

PROBLEM#2

Over about 4K revs, sometimes 3.5 sometimes 4.5 it makes this nasty hmmm grinding noise. It's a screeching grinding noise. You can let off the gas and make the noise happen at a higher rev range, so its not at a a fixed rev. But it doesn't happen until the higher end. The noise comes from that fan belt area to the left of the s/c.

It has 76,000 miles on it.

HOPE YOU CAN HELP!

It would be expected that a new car be better then an old one, they do eventually wear out.
If the old was always better then they would be no need to sell new ones.

Fixed it!!!

Turned out to be belt slip and HT leads.

I have been told my Coolant temperature sensor is bad though, anyone know what this is? I looked up the part and it seemed to be the thing that screws into the right of the engine cylinder block?

I saw myself the ECU gave a -47 deg C reading, but in-car my engine temp sensor does it usual thing of settling to the middle, so I'm confused. Is this not coolant temperature?

Too many questions. Glad I got my car back working good again though
