Exclamation Please help!! Does the R53 and the R56 have the Same engine block?

Hi everyone My name is Mat i am New to Mini2. I am getting my 2007 Mini cooper S, soon, i dont want to go into to much into detail but the Cylinder has to be fixed on the mini im getting so instead i am just going to replace the Whole Engine Block.
I have came across a 06 Engine Block i cant seem to find a 07+, i am just wondering do they have the same block?
I sure it will fit either way but i dont want to sacrafice any Power.
So my question is, is their any difference Between a 2006 (R53) and a 2007 (R56) engine block?
Thanks all Cheers

P.S. if you dont know, could you spread the thread?- Im knew to Forums i dont even know if thats possible but if it is, Please do Thank you

United-States R53 vs R56 engine

I'm not a mechanic; but, the R53 was the last year of the supercharged engine and the R56 was the first of the turbo charged models. I'd hold out for the 07 or later engine or the least of your problems will be replacing your CPU. Again, I'm not a mechanic; but, would take the best route to an "easy" swap rather than open a can of worms, i.e. if you do this then you must do that. Do it right, do it once is my montra. Don't err on the side of expediciousness, it usually leads to regret.

It's a totally different engine and car I'm afraid. You will need an R56 engine.

R53 Mini has a Chrysler Tritec engine.....a totally different engine to the Prince engine fitted to the later R56 so no it won't fit.

Hey thanks for the quick Reply!
i understand what you mean, but the engine block, is just the Core part of the engine, so an engine block doesnt have the Turbo for example on it, you would have to attach all those things on. Im not a mechanic either but i know a thing or two about cars, and i know if the engine blocks are the same it should be fine, But i am thinking about just getting the Cylinder fixed from a engine rebuild company.
Thanks

Yes if the engine block castings, crankshaft, etc were the same it would be fine but they are completely different size/shape and not interchangeable with all the other components involved.
