Intermittant Starting Issue

Morning All,

I was wondering if one of you have experienced similar problems as i am or would be able to help me.
Basically i have a 55 plate S with 57k on, the car is running very well however the issue is with starting. You get in the car, insert the key in the ignition, turn the ignition on so the lights appear and then when you turn again to start the car.. nothing happens. By the term nothing happens i mean leterally, dash lights stay on, headlights stay on i mean nothing to suggest the car is trying to start. After repeating multiple times (sometimes 1 sometimes 15!!) the car fires into life like nothing has happened. It may sometimes even start first time .. Can anybody help?

It is also worth noting that once started the car runs perfectly fine, and the car generally starts first time every morning when the car has been left

Might be a faulty starter solenoid or it could be connected with the car alarm system immobiliser?
Obviously something affected by heat if its ok from cold.
Check the starter cables are tight?

I have this issue with mine also. Started a few months ago, but only took 2 turns of the key when it would start,,,untill today, took about 8 turns this morning!! It doesnt seem to matter if the engines hot or cold, im thinking the issue lies with the key, im going to use the spare for a while and see if that helps.
