Loss of Power........

Hi Everyone,

A few days ago I was over taking a lorry, so put my foot down to get past it quickly and all of a sudden I lost all power and the car had no accerlation to get past it, luckliy there were no other vehicles so I pulled behind the lorry and stop on the verge. The engine management light came on, so I turned off the car and re started and the power/accerlation was back. Anyway it had a diagnostic check today and the P1688 Throttle air mass fault was detected, the mechanic advised that it is possibly my By pass valve and I am currently awaiting a quotation.

So has this happened to anyone else and is this a common fault for this code and is he correct with his diagnosis of the by pass valve. Also so I am not going to get ripped off can anyone whio has had this replaced advise rough costs / labour time.

Thank You
Nick

1320 Optimum Bypass Valve

Takes about 30 -45 mins

Its common for the bypass to fail, spring sometimes breaks
