DIY One-Ball mod - pipe ordered from pipewerks £30.99 total :)

Morning all,

I'm going to DIY the One ball mod on my gfs mcs soon as we have the rotting issue on drivers side muffler.

I'm struggling to find an exhaust place locally that will do the mod and for a reasonable price so I'm going to do it myself as it looks simple enough.

I found on ebay the 90 degree mandrel bend for a decent price and they also offer an end forming service so I can specify exact sizes.

So my question is, does anybody know what diameter each end of the re-route pipe needs to be?

Thanks in advance.
Ben

Found it..

£96 including VAT though. Bit steep for something we can get from ebay for £31 delivered IMO. plus an extra few quid to get the clamps needed.

Just need the end sizes, anyone?

Check the classifieds, there might be a system for sale that someone took off their car when they put on a stainless BORLA, MagnaFlow, etc. I had mine stored for 3 years and no one needed it so I tossed it.

I'm not allowed to post a link yet as I havn't posted mubh but the item number is 300752220408 It's about £20 including delivery and then £5 extra for each end to be sized.

Good luck if you decide to do it. I found out that my local Mr Tyre garage are an authorised powerflow retailer and do custom exhaust work. Had a quote for only £60 to do it so I'm going to get that done instead. If you have a Mr Tyre local to you I'm sure they will charge similar if not the same if you dont want to do it yourself.

Thanks for that info mate, I keep meaning to get under the car and check but whenever I remember, I never have the car with me!

I'll keep this updated when I get some more info then as it may be of use to others one day.

I dont think the Inner diameter is necessary, I'm going to ring pipewerks when I finish work shortly and tell them what the pipe needs to go round and get it ordered. I'll let you know how I get on!

£35 quid and an hour under the car sounds better than paying around £100 to me

I've ordered the pipe, 2.25 inch diameter. I spoke to Pipewerks and asked them to form the engine end inner diameter to 2.25 inch and the silencer end inner diameter to 2.5 inch. This should fit snug over the existing pipe.

Expecting delivery early next week and I will be fitting it next weekend. I will post some more pictures/details of how I did it and how good the fitment is once I've done.

Hope this is of some help to others.

hi how'd you get on with this. i ordered to fit over cat side and fit in silencer side. mines is fitted but i think i chopped slighlty too much off cat side and im getting a bit rattle as i drive. think it is secure enough, but dont know if exhaust is supported enough and thats whats causing the rattle. doing my head in a bit

Well I cocked up a bit as I didnt take into consideration the thickness of the pipe when measuring. So I basically ordered a bit of pipe which is exactly the same size as each section it was to sleeve over - SCHOOLBOY ERROR!

Anyway with the weather being rubbish and being busy with work I'm yet to do anything else. Half tempted to take it to an exhaust shop and just pay to get it sorted. Have you got a picture of yours fitted? Cant understand why it would rattle unless one of the mounts are knackered?
