Swapping major parts - will ECU and BC1 be compatible?

Hi,

I've just bought a damaged 2006 R53 as a parts donor for my 2002 R53.

I was thinking of transplanting the entire drive-train from the 2006 to the 2002. I would also like to use the 2006 ECU.

Can anyone see a problem with this? What about the 2002 BC1 (Body Control Unit)? would I also have to change that for the 2006 one?

I would prefer to keep the 2002 BC1 simply because the damaged 2006 did not come with any keys.

Any advice welcome.

Also, the 2002 R53 has had an ongoing problem with the ABS system and I was also thinking of using the 2006 one. Would this be an OK swap?

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks, there was some useful information there about possible problems, however nothing conclusive.

Anyone on MINI2 have first-hand experience with swapping OEM ECUs between vehicles?

For example, if I do the swap, will BMW dealers be able to reprogram it to suit a new VIN?

Cheers,

Dave
