My dealer called me yesteday and told me he had a EB/W MCS that was close to what I ordered. Mine is not due until arpil/may. I had to tell him thanks but no thanks becuase I'm stuck in my lease until March on the car I have and I didn't want to pay all those extra charges to break the lease. Someone in Dallas will be very happy this Christmas. So I guess I'll just keep waiting....
It's worth it mate, just hang in there... mine ended up being a month late but that was all forgotten when i sunk down into that seat of my new S that first time... got shown around the car by my dealer (an apt name for him as he did sell me the Mini drug) .... then closed the door, dropped the windows, turned the key and yeah baby.... listen to the music...
slowly slid the awesome motor out of the showroom onto the road... changed up from first then cranked it up to 4500 in second...
I was supposed to order in July then August then finally got to order in September. My dealer had several S's available during that time but none were "quite right". I have to to say, when I finally picked up my MCS last Thursday night and drove home, I was VERY HAPPY that I waited.... hang tuff.
Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable!
I passed on the MCS dark silver 17" wheeled baby that I spec'd myself back in october - it came in ahead of schedule, just before christmas - I hadn't even test driven a Mini - so, I got in for a test drive, actually saw "my" mini in the garage and, VERY reluctantly turned it down (I had to go to work for the rest of the day with the smell of new car on my clothes reminding me all day) - placed a new revised order and have a 6-8 month wait!
(going for electric blue, 16" wheels, anthracite dash)
I really feel as though I put a beloved pet up for adoption...that lost, empty feeling is taking a long time to go away.
I know exactly what you are going through. I told my Mini dealer I wanted to take delivery of my Mini in June 2002 because of the lease I was in, at the time. My Mini came in two months early. It arrived in april 2002. I had to watch my Mini in the window of the dealership everytime I drove by. After almost two months I broke down, paid off the lease, which was only $650.00 and ran down to the Mini dealer and took my baby home.
Happy ever since.
Charles.
