Just bought my 52 r53 in dark grey with black and blue leather, 46k genuine miles and paid 2350 car was prev cat d in 2003,the person I bought it from had no idea and still drives with no weird noises or rattles test drove a few and this was the best drive at the best price, good deal or?
Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with Cat D cars. It just means that the car has had there insurance company repair the it, which could have only been a dented door , not necessarily had the chassis bent or anything! . So it sounds as if you got a pretty good deal there
Cat D is where the insurance have classed it as beyond economical repair so they don't repair it they write it off. The car can be bought back off your insurance or it is sold as salvage and then put back on the road by the original owner or new buyer. But yes you are right in the fact that cat D is probably minor damage especially if the car is a few years old when damaged.
With the mileage and price you paid for the car sounds like a good deal
