Question Bad year/s to stay away from?

the normal theory in automotive is to wait 2 years of production of a new model. Does this hold true to the First gen cooper S? Looking to buy the newest model i can afford, but would also like to have the most optioned one as well. Thanks.

I think it does, the manufacturers do all sorts of testing for a new model, extremes of heat and cold, hard driving and it all passes wonderfully, they are launched onto the market and the old lady who just goes to the shops and back in hers has all sorts of trouble with it, as they never thought about testing it in that mode.
Best wait a little while I think before buying the very latest out there.
Of course theres always the keep up with the Jones folk, got to have the latest thing in everything and then moan like heck when the faults start to appear.
The best really would be the last of the previous line where all faults should have appeared and been ironed out.
