To build or not? Ice, Tarmac, or Countryman?
So I recently acquired my new passion in vehicles. The 2004 Mini Cooper S. My warranty will be up next year and I need to make some major decisions. While is drove beautifully (yet carefully and slow mostly) on Ice and about 3-4" of snow I am curious how I should build it if at all. Let me explain briefly.
-Live in North Carolina, USA.
-Not tons of snow but a fair amount of rain.
-Lots of Dry
I would love to build it for being awesome in wet conditions as well as dry to make it sporty and fun. But you have to admit the inherently Rally esk look to them is quite appealing even though not super intended for Rallycross.
Is it worth it to be a little different, do a small body lift, add some snow tires to a separate set of rims and make it keep up with SUV's in the snow?
Or is there a really good way to build it to still do 70-90mph in 2-3" of rain with performance and tire/suspension upgrades?
Or stick to the tarmac dry and make it just like other "Tuner" cars out there and focus on grip in dry conditions and speed.
Can a countryman be worth making fast/also offroad so I should wait till I can get one of them?
I am a new mini owner with so many questions and eager for your opinions as well as educated knowledge.
