United-Kingdom Tyre pressure warning light

Our R53 Cooper S has the tyre pressure warning light on. It will not reset. There are no punctures and all the pressures are correct. Any idea what could be the cause of this?

If it were a wheel sensor would that not cause an ABS fault too?

Are you the original owner of the car? Have you reset the Tyre pressure warning before? Just checking, because resetting the light is not as simple as just pressing the reset button.

You have to stop your car. Turn the key to the 1 position, press and hold the reset button until the light blinks (about 5 seconds). Then let go of the button. Start the car and the light should go out after the computer goes through its diagnostics.

Done all that, the light does not flash there is just a steady light all the time. The plugs on the wheel sensors are not corroded. Its very strange.

Could it be a faulty switch? If the contacts in the switch are buggered the system wouldn't recognise the reset sequence? Just a thought....

I suspect your switch is dirty, try pressing repeatedly very fast ....lots, and try again, may sound daft, but can work, they are seldom used for many.
