Anyone have a prob with cruise control (CC) on the MFSW on the otherwise faultless MCS??
It sometimes just doesn't kick in, though the light comes on etc. It either drops 20-30mph and then kicks in, otherwise I just have to start pressing the '+' button as soon as I have switched it on to get it to maintain the speed.
I thought that was just how it worked, I thought you pressed the + or - button after switching it on to set the speed. But then again, I've never read the manual on the cruise control.
That way I understand it is that when you turn it on (at a reasonable speed), it should maintain the speed you are doing at the time, which you can then subsequently adjust with the + and -. Don't think you should have to fiddle with these at the start.
Don't use it often (only when I want to sleep!), but it annoys me.
press the button to turn it on then you pres +,- straight away to set the cc to the current speed and off you go. you can change gear whils the cc is on and active if you come to a hill without it disengaging. it does not like it but it will keep the same speed.
it could be safety. you may knock the button and set your speed pressing the second button makes sure it is activated at the correct speed and when you want it
Mercedes-Benz traditionally had "instant on" cruise controls, whereas BMW considered these dangerous. Hence you have to switch it on before you can activate it. I guess they had US plaintiff lawyers in mind when they designed this feature.....
Cooper S BRG/B, Chili, DSC, Overheated seats, auto A/C, OBC, heated mirrors/jets, Boost + CD. delivered 24.09.02 (ordered 11.09.01). MAX tint on back 3 windows. 17" S-Lites with Dunlop summer run-flats. 16" X-Lites with Goodyear Ultra Grip run-flats for winter. Remus exhaust (LOUD !).
Also, so that you can cancel, and then resume without turning the cruise control system totally off. On my focus it is either on or off, no resume. I really like the way BMW set it up.
