Get 2003 or wait for 2004 - MINI Cooper Forum

My turn is coming up in June or July to order a MCS but now I can't decide if I should go ahead and order a 2003 or wait for a 2004 MCS. Does anyone here have any spectaculation as to what the changes could potentially be. I know that supposedly a convertible/cabriolet version will be available in addition to a rumoured diesel version. I'm interested in neither one.

As it stands, the specs that I want to get is

Electric blue w/ white top
Black/Lapis blue leather with algona patina trim
Everything except for the navigation system
Rubber mats

Wow... I can't believe it's only Feb and we're already having to ask this question..! They need to find a way to crank out more of these cars.
If you don't want what's supposed to be coming in 2004 (assuming it will come to the US in the same timeframe), have you tried shopping around different states..? I found the car I wanted already loaded on a boat and got it really quickly. You could be thinking about a trade-in by 2004

The only reason why I even thought of asking this question was my salesperson sent me an email notifying me that my turn is coming up soon. I do not plan to trade in my '03 MCS if I were to go this route.

As for shopping out of state, I'm in no hurry to get the MCS which is why I was willing to wait for my local dealership to get me one.

Jason,
One thing to consider is that most enhancements for the 2003 MINIs did not come on stream till around YEAR 2003 (ie: HK, dimming mirror, new steering wheel in December 2002).
So if you are hoping for something in a MINI *labelled* 2004 and manufactured in mid-2003, you might be disappointed.

any thing on the rumor mill about new changes I'm looking at an S as well and have been debating when to place my order.

Thanks Ian for pointing that out. It looks like I may just go ahead and order one when the time comes. I've been waiting for my turn since summer of '01 too!

It seems to be a very much US thing model years not something that happens much here. I think we brits are more focused on the number plate changes eg March and September 1st.
