Hey guys so I just picked up a 2006 Mini Cooper s 6 speed with 40,000 original miles. I am planning on making this a fairly quick street car. Before I do that however I have some questions. What kind of fuel do you guys run in your s? I was planning on running premium fuel, but I was not sure if I have too. Also what mods and tunes would you guys run to get max hp out of this awesome car? Thanks in advance!
I have a 17% pulley, but the more you read, you'll see advice on 15% giving less intake temperature challenges, it is still smaller than JCW or GP pulleys, and plenty if you want to mod the car for higher rpm later.
Tuning, depending on where you are, BytetroniK in the U.K. at 1320 in Cambridge, or Mynes Tuning in the U.S.
They can get into the ecu and adjust pretty much all of it to make you a car specific map that can be altered later if you do more, it also I believe, has launch if you want, but there may be other stuff required.
JCW airbox is discreet, and a manifold with a cam, may net you more useful power than noisy cat backs but that may just be me.
I took my loud one off, as it was too much with the manifold I needed to use to get a wideband sensor.
Sure, others will advise, there are other tuners, but not much that is editable, mostly generic maps, which are a bit of a risk.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate all of you pointers! Look for me again when I start cutting in to my mini I'm sure I'll have more questions! Thanks again!
