Hi i have a 2004 cooper s, runs great idles great but has a horrible surge when cruising and I don't know what to do I've replaced coil wires plugs cleaned the Tb and run injector cleaner through it
I plan on replacing the fuel filter here soon but I don't have any way of smoking it and FYI I half to get the bc1 and the speedo reprogrammed don't know if that would affect how it runs or not
I had the same or similar problem with surging. Felt like I was lifting my foot off and on the accelrator pedal..Turned out it was a faulty bypass valve.. So I just replaced it with a Detroit tuned one.. All is good now.
My bypass valve has resistance but I'll bypass it and see what it does but I think it's a vacuume leak cause it's throwing a code for map O2 and throttle valve, but it only does the hesitation when I'm barely on the throttle if I give it more throttle it goes away
