Key fob?

Hello all-

This is my first real posting here... I've got my MCS on order, and it should ariive to it's loving home in Sunnyvale, CA around mid-may.

My question to the group here is regarding the key fob that comes with the mini... My roommate has a new Z4, and I'm noticing many similarities between it's systems and those of the Mini. His keyless entry is pretty slick, and I'm hoping that it's similar in the MCS! Does anyone have any pics of the keys? Do they have good range and functionality? I've been reading up on my options for programming them; it sounds similar to the Z4.

Thanx in advance-

Tom

BTW, I really appricate the attitudes and personalities of the posters in the forum. If any of you come through the Bay Area, you'll have to drop me an email.

you guys are awesome...

not even 15 min. later... Thanx much. It looks similar to the Z4 setup, but much smoother-looking, and even a tad smaller.

Thanks!

One of many keys to the two doors of the house.

Plus we have an alarm and a REALLY fierce cat.

Hey, how come your wings (unlock button) are silver? Mine are black plastic like the lock button.

Cooper's get an all black key, Cooper S's get the silver wings - though I've been told that I can order a Cooper S (silver) key if I want one - £££.

Cool

Thanks.
Now I know two things: 1) MCis second class to MCS and 2) Never pull out my 2nd class key in front of a MCS owner

Mine is an MCS, and I received one key with silver wings, one key with black wings, and one plastic key.

I ordered the horseshoe keyring from MINIgear, and guess what? The cable won't go through the hole in the key without filing it some. What were they thinking?

I got a silver key for my MCS too. You can order the key and have it program it to your MC, but my dealer told me it's about US$140+. So DO NOT lose your key!!! It's expensive to have it replace!!!
