Ireland Reflective Strips on Wheel Arches

Hi everyone....

This is my first post on here and its a question to all American Cooper S owners.

I'm in Ireland and am expecting my DS/W Cooper S in 3 weeks....the wait is seriously affecting my mental health by the way.

I've noticed that all the American Minis come with an orange reflective strip ahead of the front wheel arch and a red one behind the rear arch.

This doesnt come as standard on European Minis to the best of my knowledge...which is a pity because I think it really sets off a dark coloured mini really well.

My question is are they just adhesive strips or would it require replacing that section of skirting to have the 'American Look'????

Replies or links to threads where this has previously been covered would be gratefully recieved!!!

Welcome to MINI2.

The part you're speaking of is integrated into the arch and not a "stick on" item. You'd have to replace the piece on a UKDM car or, um, "improvise" with a bit of sticky tape and some imagination.

They're not only not stick-ons, they have bulbs and light up at night.

Pepper White / Red Interior / Red Stripes / CVT

Talk is cheap 'cause supply exceeds demand.

They light up at night! Even better, anyone got any photos of this? (at night obviously). I have always liked the look of the reflectors, didn't realise they had lights too. If we could get the parts, will there be a suitable place to 'plug them in'?

Here they are lit up at night:

One thing I never noticed before, the rear one has the bulb at the bottom while the front one has the bulb at the top. I guess they use the same housing with different colored lenses to save money and just flip it for front-to-rear.

We have these in the U.S. because they are required by U.S. law. Also the reason you guys in Europe don't have them

Personally I don't like the markings on the wheel arch. I've been trying to figure out a way to get red of them, but that would cause to much of a hassle, so I'm stuck with them!

United-Kingdom Reflective Strips

I've just checked those part numbers with my dealer and he said you can't order them from the UK. Which is a pity because they look the Mutts!!!!! It probably will be a different answer from each dealer.
