Sure I've been beaten to this already(slow typer) but no, the kit is sold on an "exchange" basis - old SC, head and exhaust are cofiscated by those naughty BMW goblins and whisked away never to be seen again. Maybe down the back of the sofa somewhere, or where all the odd socks go....

so the £3,500 includes the cost of having to pay for your own SCharger, Head, Exhaust etc. again...

If the objective is improved peformance, you can certainly do it as well or better and much cheaper than JCW. As best I can tell, the only real JCW upside is that it allows you to keep your warranty. If you do it yourself, that MAY be an issue depending on your dealer and the problem: US law says that unless a problem can be shown to have been caused by a mod; they cannot deny you warranty coverage. Anyway, if you replace the intake, the pulley, and upgrade the exhaust; you're close to 200 HP. Add an ECU upgrade and you're over that!

The pros and cons of the JCW kit as opposed to other kits (hartge, GGR etc.) have already been very well discussed in many threads. I would personally think it was the "safer" way to go if you don't mind spending the dosh, as the uprated head and supercharger will last longer theoretically than the stock items operating at a similar HP, as they are built for the job and have been tested extensively. May also give you a sounder base for tweaking the engine a little further at a later date if you feel like it.
