Cool Breaking in my new MCS

My MCS is at the dealer so I'll probably pick it up this week, and I was curious how everyone else has broken their Mini in. I've never had a brand new car before so this will be my first time breaking one in. How long do you take it easy?

I don't get my MCS until July 7th and I've never had a new car before either, so I'd be interested to see what people say.
Off the top of my head, take it easy for 1000 miles, use a high octane fuel and keep it waxed/polished and looking its best!
Have a great time with your MCS.

Dont take her over 4500rpm for 1250 miles. MINI have obviously never heard of the term "cruel and unusual punishment"

people go nuts over how to properly break in an engine. Look at your odometer when you get your car, it's already been driven and honestly I'm sure Mini has already broken it in at the factory. It's probably run in and given a filter change before you even get it. I was recently talking to a corvette fan who has a 50th anniversary vette, he watched his car be assembled and was the one that ran it on the dyno after it was assembled, they then took it to the test track and ran it some more. In all honestly the break in is more for oyur clutch and other components then your motor. But that's just my opinion, with that said I wouldn't redline every gear but varrying the RPM's won't hurt it

Picken mine up in the morning, then off on a 1200 mile road trip from Atlanta, GA to Little Rock, AR and back, that should give me about 1200 of HWY miles of easy break-in motoring...
