Re: Saris Bones 2 Question I just bought the Bones 2 myself and have only test-fitted it and noticed the smae thing with the center leg. Most of the weight consequently ends up being on the straps/spoiler (i.e. not good). I think the best plan of attack is to get the bikes as high as possible by rotating the 2 rear legs upward to get the center of gravity closer to the back of the car and also keep the heavier of 2 bikes closer to the car. If this doesn't help I would contact Saris directly. Phil Whoa Jesse!

I just bought a Saris Bones 3-bike rack for my Cooper, which has a spoiler. The fit is pretty good. I was getting a little frustrated that the upper feet weren't making contact with the window. I wound up discovering this: if you fit the top straps first so that the bottom feet do not touch the bumper, but float about 1/2" or so above, then attach everything else, the weight of the bikes (I'm carrying around 2), forces the rack down so that it does sit on the bumper and the top feet are solidly against the window. I'm not convinced this is the way things are supposed to work, but I drove a couple of blocks this afternoon and everything was in the right place when I got back.

Hatch huggers question For those of you who have gone the hatch huggers route, how do these things work? Do they drop down into the interior when the hatch is open, then pull through to rest against the inside hatch frame when it's closed? I just tried to fit a Bones rack to my MCS and am debating whether it is a good way to go. The s-hooks will just fit through the spoiler gap, so the straps don't have to be run over the spoiler itself, but the hooks seem to be a tight fit in the seam between the hatch and the body. Also, can the hatch be opened when the rack is installed? With the lower feet on the bumper it doesn't seem wise to try to open the hatch. It's not the easiest rack in the world to install with six straps to adjust. CooperCooper 2003 MCS EB/W - Premium, DSC, Fogs 1966 Austin Healey 3000 mkII - garage art

Hmm . I have the Bones 2 sitting here for a few months already. Got it off Ebay for a good deal but never tired it on the Cooper. Looked a little intimidating out of the box, so I am wating for some good weather to test it. Had a simple trunk rack for my previous car that worked easy, but this Bones rack looks a little clumsy. Will keep you updated? What are these HATCH HUGGERS anyway?
