Do you think your dealer will push to sell your car for £15500 in return for nowt apart from you being able to have your new car quicker rather than them holding on while before you sell it.

I was deciding between a Golf GTi and a 205 GTi way back in 1988!

I remember taking a 205 1.9 for a test drive, really enjoyed it, but I felt it was incredibly solid - went over a hump in the road, took off - these were the days before seat-belts were compulsory in Ireland - whacked my head off the roof, and had a sore neck for 2 days afterwards......decided I couldnt live with it, went for the safe Golf option instead......

There was a guy selling kits to transform the GT Turbo into a 4wd cosworth. He was charging £8,000 including all the parts. Class......

The modern GTI's are a lt softer than the old ones. My mates dad had one of the first XR3i's (really cool when you are 17) and we used to borrow it to go out in at the weekends...if you were sat in the back and went over a bump it put your back out....

Ah, the XR3i, I used dream about it (seriously), those telephone dial alloys, and the tea tray spoiler in black rubber !

Yeah, the kids these days are softies washy, wouldnt know a hard suspension if it jumped up and bit them !

Seriously, though, with the lack of padding in the MINI rear bench, the effect is similiar if you hit a bump while in there, as I found out once when my Wife and Mum were in the front !
