| You're the third person in the past 24hrs to mention Highway 1... That was on my original plan when I was planning to do the US road-trip earlier this year. New York to Chicago; pick up R66 to LA then up Highway 1 to San Fran. Roads look amazing We're short on time and the list of must-dos and must-sees is getting out of control  but we'll try to get to this place. | I have never been on any road in the UK that is anything like highway one. It's just one hairpin turn after another, almost all on the side of a cliff. I'm sure there are parts of Southern France or Italy that could come close, but if it's possible you should drive it.   |

| <===huge fan of Highway 1. Never had the time to drive the length of it in the MINI. Have done some 150 mile stretches, though. San Fran to Santa Cruz is amazingly fun. Santa Cruz to Monterey is absolutely stunning & a dream stretch when there's no traffic. Monterey to San Luis Obispo/Cambria is enough to make you wet your pants (in a good way). Perfectly willing to meet any M2'ers coming over to drive Highway 1. |
