only worry is would I regret buying before the new one comes out. dealer says the new S wont be released same time as the One/Cooper but i dont believe him. if there are no friendly insurers out there i wudnt be getting til september anyway.
i know there is no right answer but basically asking do u reckon the new one wud be that much better for not much more cash
Yep... you get the much nicer black A pillars too then!
Matt - best check with your dealer what build weeks are allocated to the Cooper S for late this year. I suspect there will be some down time at the factory before production of the new model starts so they may not be building them after June/July... production of the new model is rumoured to start in September!
Well, I was going to be all sensible and economical and go for a diesel. But my heart seems to rule over my head and I'm going for a cooper S works! I'm not too excited yet as I'm still to secure finance, which could be problematic as I've just moved house and that caused a real nightmare last time! However, I've just sent off my order and fingers crossed it'll be ok....
Mini Cooper S

I'm hoping to get the official ipod link, illuminated door sills and possibly a front camera fitted after the factory build.
There is no doubt that there is more flex in the car but it handles well and goes well. I have been able to more than keep up with other cooper s's on track days, and even embarras some with JCW kits!
I have been out to play with Tonyt3 and s_and_m who both drive tin tops on a few occasions and they will both tell you (I think) that the convertible does not loose much to the tin top around the circuit. The convertible still has the same weeknesses ie Brakes and I have gone down the route with braided hoses, 5.1 fluid, drilled and slotted discs as well as performance pads. This has seen the end of brake fade and I am very happy with the brake set up on the car. The other area is tyres and I run toyo t1r's all round.
My biggest issue at the moment with the convertible is using the car phone in it as it really is too noisy on the nokia blue tooth car kit that I had installed. I can hear very easily but the people at the othe other end complain about the noise at my end. I am tempted to go for the roof next time around for this reason alone.
