i finally got to try some R56's this weekend in a free-for-all car swap at the end of saturday's driving in ireland. firstly barry's cooper D - apologies to barry for leaving him stood in the car park when he thought he was coming with me My impression was that power-wise it feels a lot like the R53 cooper - same 'power band' type of acceleration but lower down in the rev range plus much more torque. to say its only a couple of weeks old we were struggling to keep up with him on the run (as usual). Secondly i had a go in a standard R56 S - good god that's got some raw power. on wet roads the traction was scrabbling between 3rd & 4th but it really felt that however you chucked it around it would sort itself out.. The brakes on both cars were awesome - far, far better than the R53 & gave a real confidence to push it harder

r56 spec

Hi all

Thinking about ordering soon, any thoughts on this spec would be great:

Astro Black
Redwood red interior
Multi Functional Steering wheel
Visibility Pack
Exterior Mirror Pack
Heated Screens and washer jets
Chrome Line Interior + Exterior
Rain Sensor
Auto Aircon
Interior Lights Package (Is it worth it, suppose will make the ladies happy)
Sat Nav
Mini HiFi
Chili Pack
Ipod Connector
Aero Kit + Colour coded arches.
Sports Suspension
JCW Exhaust (Does anyone know how much this is)
R105 JCW

Is the mini Hi fi any good and how much will they charge me for having the aero kit fitted with the arches? Does the sports supspension make the ride worse and is it worth getting DSC?

thats our kind of spec Woody!

DSC is better than ASC, although both should be turn off for spirited driving. As the hifi and the aero kit, hopefully someone else will be able to help you.

I had a go in the R56 S aswell and well, its fecking fast. So easy to get upto some very serious speeds on some very tight roads. although getting the traction control working on a 3rd to 4th gear change was a bit bizarre. I would loose my license in one of those.

Gerard's Cooper looked brilliant as i was chasing it up Healy Pass and along Mols gap to the hotel on the thursday night, just looked that bit more planted than mine although i didn't have any trouble holding station it just looked a little less 'busy'

MINI Hi-Fi is good, but the standard Boost is just terrible.

Still thinking about the sound system, extended leather, and a few other bits.

Extended leather is well worth it, Bose really, really isn't , I'm sorry I took it :rolleyes, what about Xenons?

Barry reckons his car is a bit twitchier at the real than the last one?
