Not needed just yet, but I did think about you when I was having it done and how I might be able to get a discount

The R8 isn't of interest to me - I want 4 seats and a convertible as well as the performance & marque.

All topgear did (as ever) was confirm their own views. The 997 C2S is over 10k less than the R8. On a damp track the "best one" would be a C4S (£5k less). Or of course for £77k + (and only needing 2 seats) a GT3 would be also approriate at £2.5k more.

I don't like the shape of the R8 TBH but I don't know why. The back looks good, the front looks OK, but they don't seem to join quite right? I also have a feeling that the Xmas lights on the front are to make it looks a bit more different to the TT which looks v. good value beside the R8.

And if I'm honest even though the R8 can match some 911's in terms of performance IMO Porsche in general and the 911 in particular has way more in terms of brand and image. 40years of iconic 911 images do have a residual impact when you look at the 997.

Given the choice of the two cars they had there i'd have the 911 every day of the week, but the R8 does look an interesting prospect, especially with the V10 coming... there is something with the side view, the proportions dont seem right, the car does seem overly long, but I was impressed with the way it seemed to drive and handle...

as for the lights I like them, but they have put the same ones on the S5 and from the front you cant say which is which...

I know someone who had a deposit on an R8, and who ended up with the TT roadster...

I would guess the V10 will be around 911 turbo money, so TG will probably test it against a C4S

Damn - if I could get a 997 C4s for affordable money I'd get one . Even a C2S would be ok. But it's still over budget for me. I've already gone over the 50k barrier on the Q7 I'm looking at.

Prob is 997 for the spec I want is going to be 60k min.

The R8 doesn't do anything for me at all. But a 911

And I still think that while it is an R8 - it is still an Audi.

A Porker is a Porker .
