I can't keep up with this thread - moving too fast for me!

I always use progressive throttle, never floor it immediately. However, I do like to make use of the power/torque curves when changing up.

So hang on....
I'm not using full throttle, you're not using full throttle, this must mean that we could go faster then

TBH honest I always use progressive throttle too. I'm not too sure if full throttle makes a difference

Anyone out there care to quantify that????

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

There'll be more speed available to me yet. As you know just me in the car is like having a driver + 1 passenger all the time. Once I get my own weight down a bit more it'll be great!

BTW Martin - why not get a yellow S with a white or chequered roof and the yellowy interior? That'd be ok.

That I know for sure isn't the truth
At last years run about the Derbyshire countryside my car was still not run in and I had no problem keeping up with Coopers without having to go over 4500rpm, or maybe it was just because I was following Soggy and DC
Even our own Mark T admitted he struggled to keep up even with bouncing off the rev limiter

its actually more fun being behind a Cooper waiting for a clear straight stretch of road to come up and then just pull out and overtake.

PMSL
I tried that but didn't change gear fast enough and bounced off the rev limiter
By the time that had happened anand had built up enough speed and the opportunity was gone

Back on topic now....

Now that a JCW looks unlikely should I get the sunroof or not
I really do love it, but it comes at the cost of the extra weight

I would invest your money on an advanced driver training day. I'm thinking of doing one later this year. That will more than make up for any disadvantages you may have with extra weight from sunroofs etc.
