OK, so you know I’ve been driving an S today for the first time ever, a lot later than most of the rest of you guys, but better late than never !!

Here are my impressions…….as I stated earlier, I was blown away!

The car was Electric Blue, White Roof, with White S Spokes, Sunroof, Chilli Pack, DSC, and Lapis Blue Full Leather. The car didn’t have the grille in the rear parcel shelf, or the revised seat mechanisms.

I like EB, but wont be going for it……….my loyalties lie elsewhere…..! The Lapis Blue Leather and Carpets, Im very partial to…the leather, IMO, seemed high quality, soft and even felt nicer than the leather in my 3 Series, not grainy, a lot smoother, but as a consequence may not be as hard wearing ?

When I first started the car up, I was instantly smitten…..the exhaust note is intoxicating, and I was happy to sit there blipping it all day long. I see others point about the clutch being sharp, but I got used to it fairly quickly – same for the six speed box – it felt very natural to me to change up into sixth as the revs ran out, and the box was nice and snickable…….

Best of all though IMO, is the wail of the Supercharger, egging you on to go faster and faster……..with the exhaust note at low revs, and the scream of the supercharger at high revs, the S is a veritable cacophony of the best sounds a car enthusiast could ever want!

What a noise as you put your foot down, and blast through the gears, the charger shrieking, and your smile getting bigger all the time. I believe in the Silly Grin Club now ! You really don’t need a sound system in an S.

The car was tight, only 10 miles on the clock, and didn’t seem incredibly fast, yet it was, deceptively so, as others have reported. It’s quite quick enough for all intents and purposes, and can deal with any overtaking requirements quickly and decisively.

I found the S Spokes and the SS+ to be quite acceptable, no worse than my Cooper on 15”s and Standard SS….maybe even slightly comfier. The brakes were a little soggy, but I’m sure that’s because the pads weren’t properly bedded in.

Overall, I’m highly impressed, it was well worth the wait, and I simply have to have one !!

I even bought my wife a MINI jacket as a sweetner…..got to keep her onside…….its her car after all !!

On with the speccing, no other car can keep me happy after today……

(Sorry for the delay in posting my impressions, I had to do some work when I got back to the office - as recommended by Martin and QQQ – and based on my preferred spec, much like Martins, a lot of work will have to be done to afford the thing!!!)

QQQ, it was a slightly “orgasmic” test drive, especially when we went up a country road, off the main road to test the handling and suspension – I started to think I was on a rally stage, much to the bemusement of the salesman , who went just a little bit white on more than one occasion !………..I think he may have left some grip marks in those lovely leather seats!

Heck, chrome the whole thing - interior and all. Then you can clean it with a garden hose.

PS/B MCS, bonnet stripes, everything but the satnav, 17" S-Lites

They've disappeared from my computer too. I saw them yesterday and now they're gone
Maybe they've been "removed" by a moderator so not to upset the white roofies
