Sorry I have to disagree with the scare mongering as its NOT.

However its not a case a dealer will try to put you off as all the dealers around where I live will not touch a converted car as a trade in unless its a works version.!

Scare Mongering..NO Fact..YES

As I've said before if it is found that the converted parts have caused other parts to fail these will not be covered under the 3 year warranty.

dinger.

PS,I think TLC servicing should not be effected as its only carrying normal services nothing more nothing less.

So I spoke to my dealer, and posed the same question and he said yes also and would not budge! He said they may do warranty work on the car if it was electrical or something not engine but they would not work on the engine if there were non BMW parts in there! Annoying!!

So...my question is, as my dealer is such a tight a*se, could I take my car to another dealer who is more lenient to this sort of thing for warranty work to be carried out??

I had so many problems with my last MCS to do with all sorts of parts of the car that I dont think I really want to risk losing my warranty!

No scare mongering just fact,!

Saleman knows all about it, but he advised me to take the badge off. I ruined it in the process too!

England Warranty / TLC

I once tried to start a thread on which people could post their experiences with regard to modifications and effects on TLC and warranty so people could just look at local UK dealers and find where they stand on this issue, but it died a death quite quickly, still think it's a good idea though?

I've thought about this and basically freedee it comes back to your relationship with your dealer/salesperson.

In my circumstances i don't have a great relationship with either dealer so i'm just going hoping that everything goes ok first time, failing that the most convienient dealer who will service a Hartge car appears to be Sytners in Worcester so i'm going to take my car there instead, plus Sytner's is pretty much central for everyone and im sure if we started supporting them en-masse we'd get a better level of service too.

Just some random thoughts really so lets see how it goes

v8voodoo,

thats hard luck, maybe you should just keep quite about the mod and there will not be a problem.

TLC is great but don't forget its only an oil change, brake fluid etc etc, if you keep stum then there will be no way they'll even know, i have to agree with Nic D, there is far too much scare mongering on this topic.

as for the resale, surely you would want to sell private if poss to get the best price .....?

A.
