Lightbulb Upgrade to 2004 spec...

MMini2ers,

I have a 2003 MCS and really want the new gizmos added to the 2004 car - ecspecially the speed readout in the rev counter display...

Has anyone had this work carried out successfully??? Would the upgrade to the computer give me this readout???

Can I get the double indicator flash programmed when arming the alarm???

Have there been any ECU software upgrades recently - my MCS was a June 2003 build I think???

cheers guys, its been a long time.....

This car is going to lose me my license one day. I LOVE IT!!!

Don't think it's possible. The 2004 cars have a new BC1 control unit.

Is the difference with this new control unit a hardware update or simply a software (firmware) upgrade?????

What kind of excuse would u need to get it changed under warranty????

It's a new module and as far as I'm aware you can't swap it with the older BC1 on an older MINI. If yours was changed under warranty you would get another BC1 the same as you have now, and it'd have to be faulty anyway.

The only way you would be able to do this realistically is if MINI decide to bring out a retrofit kit in order to give you the new features. Not sure we'll ever see such a kit.
