England Passenger Window

Hey there,

I've recently bought a MCS and am very pleased with it... One query though, when I open and close the driver window I only need to touch the toggle switch once. This is the same when I open the passenger window, but to close it I have to hold the toggle switch for as long as it takes to close. I've spoken to the dealer and they said that this feature 'depends your model'. So, should the passenger window also open and close on a single touch, rather than having to hold the switch??

Thanks

J

So let me get this straight......the driver's window is supposed to be a one touch close???? I just got my 04 MCS, and in the owner's manual it indeed says one touch to close the driver window, but it does not seem to be the case in my car. A small niggle but should I talk to the dealer?

where are you from MINIGT? if the US you get no one touch close, other countries get drivers side one touch close only.

try flicking the window switch twice, it may close automatically on the second attempt, Otherwise you should be able to get it programmed by the dealer. No one-touch for passenger window for safety reasons

I am in the US, so that would answer my question then. Thanks!

I have a US spec car and it doesn't one-touch close on either side. The owner's manual is confusing and certainly gives the impression it should one-touch close.

BTW, it took me a while (and a careful read of the owner's manual) to figure out how one-touch open works. Touch the switch momentarily and it opens all the way. Hesitate by holding the switch down for a brief time and it opens conventionally (no one-touch).

Holding the button longer to have the window open less is very counter-intuitive to me. Most cars with one-touch open/close have a two position switch, where a light press opens the window a little and a heavy press to a 2nd detent does one-touch. I think Mini wanted all the switches on the panel to be the same, either for style or cost reasons, so they overloaded the function of the window switches to try and do two things.

The Mini has a lot of quirks like this and the ergos are just plain weird at times - no big deal, but they can be off-putting, especially if you regularly drive other cars.

I don't suppose anyone has figured out a way to enable 1-touch closing on US cars... My former VW Jetta and my wife's current New Beetle have 1-touch closing for the front windows and it is a very nice feature to have. It is especially useful when pulling away from toll booths or from the entry gate of a parking deck.

you cannot enable it on US spec MINI's its in the BC1, and its against federal law in the US without pinch sensors (which those other's mentioned have and the MINI does not)

My M3 has one touch for driver, open and close, and one touch close for the passenger, and I know for a fact that all BMW 745's have one touch for all windows, up and down, so that law can't be true!

the M3 has pinch sensors therefor making it legal to have them ... the law is correct ... with pinch sensors you can have one touch up windows, without a pinch sensor you can't (the MINI has no pinch sensors)
